July 2007 - Self Storage Association of Asia Kicks Off
The Asian Self Storage Association kicks off.
On Wednesday 11th July, the kick-off meeting for the Asian Self Storage Association was held in Singapore – sponsored by Steel Storage Asia.
Participation was good with operators arriving from the three major Asian markets, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong. Rennie Schaefer, General Manager of the Australasian Self Storage Association, was on hand to explain the role of the association and elaborate on the experiences of the association in Australia and New Zealand.
All participants agreed an association was required to guide the operators while the industry is still gaining foothold in Asia, and they will now write up a collective white paper which will guide the formation of the industry. It is the intension to quickly follow up with another meeting in Hong Kong where the white paper will be finally agreed to and participation of a greater number of local operators will be possible.
Steel Storage will continue to drive the growth of the industry in Asia.
